Advanced Targeting Condition: Referrer Conditions

When a user reaches your site through any method other than typing your site address directly into the URL bar, that method is known as a Referrer. You can have your popup available to be triggered based on our different Referrer Conditions.

Referrer URL Is #

Variables #

  • URL: Input the URL exactly, including “http://” and “https://” protocols.

Definition #

Loads the popup if the Referrer URL matches what you inputted for the variable field.

Uses #

You can target any Referrer URL throughout the web! This Condition is a powerful tool which allows you to deliver content according to your user interests and personas – wow!

Referrer URL Contains #

Variables #

  • Contains: Type anything that is conained within the Referrer URL which you want to target.

Definition #

This Condition loads the popup on every page where the Referrer URL(s) contains what you inputted for the variable field.

Uses #

Target multiple sects of the internet with this Condition. For example, deliver food related content when a user is referred from any link containing “food”!

Referrer URL Begins With #

Variables #

  • Begins With: Input what the Referrer URL begins with.

Definition #

Loads the popup when the Referrer URL begins with what you input for the variable value.

Uses #

Increases flexibility for popup targeting when using Referrer URLs.

Referrer URL Ends With #

Variables #

  • Ends With: Input what the Referrer URL ends with.

Definition #

Loads the popup when the Referrer URL ends with what you input for the variable value.

Uses #

Increases flexibility for popup targeting when using Referrer URLs.

Variables #

  • Valid RegExp: RegExp refers to Regular Expression, a programming language. Enter your valid Regular Expression in the text field.

Definition #

Loads the popup according to the Regular Expression inputted regarding Referrer URLs.

Uses #

If you’re familiar with Regular Expressions, then this Condition offers you ultimate flexibility for targeting your popups.

Referrer Is Search Engine #

Variables #

  • Select Search Engine(s): Choose from: Google, Bring and Yahoo.

Definition #

Loads the popup if the Referring Search Engine is one, or more, of the above as selected.

Uses #

This is great for delivering special messages to users of certain search engines.

Referrer is External URL #

Definition #

Loads the popup if the user is referred by any external URL whatsoever.

Uses #

This powerful tool allows you to target all traffic that isn’t direct traffic where users input your URL directly. This means you can basically target new users who’ve never heard of you, and deliver content specifically for them.
