If you ever need to temporarily turn off a popup without deleting it or without deactivating Popup Maker, you can disable it with 1 click!
Here are 2 ways to pause or disable your popups.
Option 1: The Easiest Way to Disable a Popup #
Toggling the Enabled switch is the easiest way to disable a popup. You can toggle the Enabled switch on the All Popups or Popup Editor page.
Disable a Popup From the All Popups Page #
Step 1: From your WordPress admin area, go to Popup Maker > All Popups.
Step 2: Click the toggle switch for the popup you want to turn off so that it slides to the left and the button turns black. Using the example below, the second popup (General COVID-19 Popup) is turned off.
Once the popup is disabled from the All Popups page, it won’t display on your site even if you try to trigger it.
In the screen capture above:
- The General Test Popup is enabled (can display).
- The General COVID-19 Popup is disabled (cannot display).
- The General Cookie Test is in draft and not published (cannot display).
Disable a Popup From the Popup Editor Page #
Step 1: From the Popup Maker > All Popups page, click on a popup name to edit it.
Step 2: Look for the Popup Enabled toggle in the popup’s Publish settings. If your popup is published and enabled, you’ll see the toggle button slid over to the right with a green background color. See below.
Step 3: Click on the Popup Enabled toggle to disable the popup. The toggle button should look like this when the popup is disabled.
Step 4: Click the blue Update button to save your changes.
Option 2: Change a Popup from Published to Draft #
The second way you can disable a popup is by changing its status back to Draft. This option has more steps and is not as intuitive as using the Enabled toggle (option 1).
You can change your popup to Draft using Quick Edit on the All Popups page or by editing the popup’s Status field on the Popup Editor page.
Change a Popup to Draft From the All Popups Page #
Step 1: Hover over the name of the popup you want to disable and click Quick Edit.
Step 2: Click the Status field and select Draft.
Step 2: Click Update to save your change. You’ll see the Draft status after the popup name and “Popup not published” in the popup’s Enabled column when you’re done.
Change a Popup to Draft From the Popup Editor Page #
Step 1: From the Popup Maker > All Popups page, click on a popup name to edit it.
Step 2: Look for the Status field in the popup’s Publish settings. If your popup is published and enabled, the Status will be Published and you’ll see the toggle button slid over to the right with a green background color.
Step 3: Click the Edit link next to Published and select Draft from the dropdown, then click OK.
Step 4: Click Save Draft to save any changes.
Your popup’s Publish settings should now show Draft next to the Status field. The Popup Enabled field should be gone and the Update button turns into a Publish button.
To keep the popup disabled, leave Visibility as Public and don’t click Publish.
