This help guide covers setting up each Popup Maker Targeting Rule for LifterLMS customers. LifterLMS targeting rules are available in Pro+.
What are Customer Targeting Rules?
Think of LifterLMS Customer Targeting Rules as smart filters that show popups based on customer purchase history, lifetime value, and subscription status to deliver personalized upsells and retention offers.
Here’s an example
You can show VIP offers to high-value customers, send retention campaigns to subscribers with upcoming renewals, or recommend complementary courses to customers who purchased specific access plans.
Where do I find these Targeting Rules?
When you create or edit a Popup Maker popup, go to Popup Settings > Targeting. Click the dropdown to see all available LifterLMS customer targeting rules.

Always remember to Publish or Save your popup after you’re done editing and adding targeting rules.
Let’s cover each LifterLMS customer targeting rule you can use in Popup Maker. Here we go!
Customer Lifetime Value
Use the Customer Lifetime Value targeting rule to show popups based on how much a customer has spent with you over time.
This is perfect for rewarding high-value customers with VIP offers or encouraging low-spenders with introductory promotions.
1. Click Customer Lifetime Value from the dropdown

2. Enter More than value (optional)
Enter a number for the minimum lifetime spending. The customer’s total spending must exceed this amount to match.
3. Enter Less than value (optional)
Enter a number for the maximum lifetime spending. The customer’s total spending must be less than this amount to match.
You can use both fields together to create a range (e.g., between $250 and $1000).
Common Use Cases
- More than 500: Show VIP upsell for high-value customers
- Less than 100: Show introductory offer for low-spenders
